First phase of enrollment of single device for CCM® and ICD therapy complete

MARLTON, N.J., April 28, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics® plc, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure (HF), is proud to announce that it reached an important milestone in the INTEGRA-D™ clinical trial, successfully completing the efficacy phase of the study. Results were presented by Dr. Niraj Varma as a late-breaking clinical trial at the 2025 Heart Rhythm conference in San Diego, CA. The completion of this milestone represents an important step toward bringing to market a single device, the CCM-D® HF System, which combines Impulse Dynamics®’ proprietary CCM® therapy for the treatment of HF symptoms with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy.

The CCM-D® device successfully converted induced ventricular fibrillation (VF) in patients in the trial, meeting the primary efficacy endpoint – conversion of induced VF to a normal rhythm at the time of device implantation – in 100 percent of patients enrolled consecutively in the INTEGRA-D™ trial.

MARLTON, N.J., March 28, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics plc, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure (HF), is proud to announce that it received European CE Mark approval for an expanded indication for the Optimizer® Smart Mini system, which delivers the company’s proprietary CCM® therapy. This new indication now offers millions of patients with diastolic HF a way to alleviate debilitating symptoms, improving their quality of life and reducing hospitalizations related to heart failure. [i]

These patients have limited treatment options available for managing their symptoms.

In Europe, the OPTIMIZER Smart Mini system is indicated for use in patients who are older than 18 years of age with symptomatic heart failure due to systolic and diastolic left ventricular dysfunction despite appropriate medical therapy. The financing was led by Perceptive Advisors, Redmile Group, Alger, and Hobart Healthcare. This substantial investment reflects investor confidence in, and commitment to, the company’s vision and expansion.

We are also getting closer to significantly impacting the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) market with successful enrollment in our INTEGRA-D clinical trial on the Optimizer® Integra CCM-D® System. Most patients who currently receive a standard ICD get lifesaving benefits from the defibrillator but still struggle with HF symptoms. With CCM-D, these patients will be able to get the lifesaving benefits of a defibrillator combined with HF symptom relief from CCM in one device.”

The funding will fuel commercialization efforts, develop future product pipelines, and support groundbreaking clinical trials such as the INTEGRA-D and AIM HIGHer clinical trials. The INTEGRA-D trial is a multicenter study evaluating the combination of CCM and ICD therapy in a single device – the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System. The AIM HIGHer clinical trial is a multicenter study with the objective to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CCM therapy in patients with symptomatic HF with an ejection fraction (EF) of 40 to 60 percent (inclusive). The trial is currently in its initial enrollment phase and has generated significant attention, feedback, and excitement among experts in HF.

MARLTON, N.J., October 30, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure (HF), announced today it has received whole-body MRI-conditional approval for the Optimizer® Smart Mini system from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Optimizer Smart Mini system delivers the company’s proprietary CCM® therapy. This conditional approval expands the product labeling to allow for full-body magnetic resonance (MRI) diagnostic imaging with 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla (T) scanners. The approval for use with full-body MRI covers new patients adopting CCM therapy as well as existing Optimizer Smart Mini users.

Jason Spees joined the company as President and Chief Commercial Officer in July 2021. He brings more than two decades of successful leadership roles in the medical device industry. Spees was most recently Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Biotronik in the areas of cardiac rhythm management, cardiovascular intervention, peripheral vascular intervention, diagnostics, and digital health. Prior to Biotronik, Spees was the Chief Commercial Officer of Preventice Solutions, along with multiple leadership positions, including Vice President of Sales for Boston Scientific. Shlomi Nachman was the Company Group Chairman of Cardiovascular and Specialty Solutions and Visions Group within Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Devices sector. World’s First Device Combining CCM Therapy With an ICD in a Single Rechargeable Implant That Treats Both Heart Failure Symptoms and Sudden Cardiac Death

MARLTON, N.J., May 18, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics plc, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure, announced the completion of the first implantation for the INTEGRA-D clinical trial, designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of two proven cardiac therapies combined — CCM® and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) — in a single device (CCM-D). The Optimizer® IntegraTM CCM-D System delivers CCM therapy to improve quality of life and reduce heart failure symptoms, and ICD therapy to treat life-threatening arrhythmias that may cause sudden cardiac death. The investigational technology is rechargeable with long battery life, potentially reducing the need for replacement procedures.

The journey of a heart failure patient often involves debilitating symptoms and declining quality of life.

CCM therapy delivered by the Optimizer System improves quality of life and helps patients feel better. Patients indicated for CCM therapy may also be at a higher risk for arrythmias and sudden cardiac arrest and are therefore often offered an ICD to treat their heart for life-threatening arrythmias, should they occur. The INTEGRA-D trial is the first to evaluate the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System that combines both therapies into a single device, designed to last for many years.

The INTEGRA-D trial is a multicenter study of 300 subjects from 75 centers that will evaluate the combination of CCM and ICD therapy in a single device via the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System. The study will assess the performance of the CCM-D device in effectively treating episodes of ventricular tachycardia and/or ventricular fibrillation while also providing CCM treatment for heart failure. Patients enrolled in the study will receive the Optimizer Integra CCM-D System, and will be followed for at least two years.

Momentum Continues as Depth of Clinical Experience Expands Worldwide

MARLTON, N.J., May 15, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics plc, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure (HF), announced today a worldwide milestone achievement with the 9,000th patient receiving the Optimizer® system for the treatment of moderate HF. The Optimizer system is the only device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States to deliver CCM therapy. Dr. Steven Gubin, a cardiologist and the President of Stern Cardiovascular, is part of the care team that completed the procedure at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, offering CCM therapy to a patient living with the debilitating effects of HF. This milestone highlights the momentum building globally for CCM therapy, using the Optimizer platform to improve quality of life in HF patients.

Experience Continues to Show CCM Therapy Addresses Clinical Need in Treating Heart Failure

Cardiologist Prof. Guo Tao, Executive Director of Internal Medicine, Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital, Yunnan Province, performed the 100th procedure and emphasized the role of this therapy in providing an option and hope to patients living with the debilitating reality of heart failure.

“It is quite a coincidental milestone for us that the 10th patient implanted in our center also happened to be the 100th patient treated in China. I have paid very close attention to CCM therapy for more than 20 years now, but it wasn’t until recently we could clinically apply this technology. Under close clinical observation, our 10 CCM patients have improved even more than we anticipated. All the CCM patients in our center improved both symptomatically and on various objective indicators, which made both us and our patients very happy. CCM therapy was approved in China late last year, and the first implant in the country was announced on November 1, 2021.
