Stuttgart, Germany \u2013 9 January, 2015<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Impulse Dynamics announced today the first implantation of its Optimizer IVs device in China.\u00a0 The Optimizer IVs is a minimally invasive implantable device designed to treat Chronic Heart Failure (CHF). \u00a0The device is based on novel Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM) technology, and delivers non-excitatory electric pulses. The implantation took place at the Fu Wei Hospital in Beijing on 30 December 2014 by Prof. Hua Wei, Prof. Zhang Shu, and Associated Professor Fan Xiaohan.<\/p>\n

Prof.\u00a0 Wei commented:\u00a0 \u201cWe are very pleased with the first implantation in China of the Optimizer system. \u00a0Chinese patients with heart failure can now benefit from the CCM therapy\u00a0that\u00a0is well established in many other countries. \u00a0Bringing such medical innovations to China will improve the quality of treatment for our patients and benefit our society as a whole\u201d<\/p>\n

About the Optimizer and CCM Therapy
<\/strong>CCM is the brand name for Cardiac Contractility Modulation, the non-excitatory electrical pulses delivered by the implantable Optimizer device during the absolute refractory period of the heart\u2019s cardiac cycle to improve systolic contraction of the heart. The Optimizer System has been implanted in over 4,000 patients and is currently available in the US, Europe, China, Brazil, India, and more than 40 other countries around the world. Impulse Dynamics has completed numerous clinical studies, including several randomized controlled trials, and the results have been published in over 80 articles appearing in leading medical journals.<\/p>\n
